DraftKings announced that it has reached a licensing agreement with an affiliate of Penn National Gaming, the operator of the Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races in West Virginia.

This agreement will allow DraftKings to launch sports betting operations in West Virginia once the company receives approval from state regulators.

According to a press release, DraftKings Sportsbook will offer online sports betting that will include live, in-game betting on major sporting events.

DraftKings also teased new features which include sportsbook pools for NBA, NFL and NHL games.

Matt Kalish, Chief Revenue Officer and co-founder of DraftKings, said: “We are thrilled to work with Penn National Gaming to bring our online sportsbook product to West Virginia.

“We look forward to serving sports fans in the Mountain State and building on the immense success we have had in leading the New Jersey market. With over 90% of sports bettors returning to play after trying DraftKings Sportsbook, we are confident we can deliver on being the best place to play for West Virginia consumers.”

John Finamore, Senior Vice President of Regional Operations for Penn National Gaming, said: “We are pleased to help welcome DraftKings to West Virginia.

“We believe the state will certainly benefit from DraftKings’ tremendous brand awareness and expertise in providing customers a quality online sports betting experience.”

On top of this, DraftKings recently launched a land-based sportsbook in Mississippi and began operating the physical sportsbook at Resorts Atlantic City.

DraftKings has also secured a deal to manage sports betting in New York when the state legalizes sports betting.
